I don’t think Dobbies needs any introductions but just incase you’re not already aware – Dobbies is an established chain of Garden Centres, founded way back in 1865. It’s well known where I live as a go-to place for not only plants, trees and everything garden related – but also for interior related items also.

I’ve been asked by the wonderful Dobbies team to be as creative as I possibly can be, with their gorgeous Christmas range. I chose to tackle my Christmas Table Decor with the challenge I was given, and I can’t describe to you all just how excited I am to share what I got up to!

I visited their Melville Store in Dalkeith – Edinburgh, just a short drive from us. It’s a mahoosize store, so I spent a good couple of hours in there gazing at all the beautiful bits and pieces they have in as part of their Christmas range. If you have seen my Christmas Tree decor, and follow my page closely, you’ll know I LOVE traditional decor – so when I spotted lots of reds, golds and greens, I knew I was in the right place for my Christmas Table Decor to match my lounge and tree.

Dobbies actually have Christmas Themes in their store for 2018 to help shoppers decipher what colour schemes and products suit their tastes best. My taste quite obviously falls into their Traditional Elegance theme – influenced by Victorian times, with blends of green, red and vintage gold – everything you’d expect to see in a traditional setting.

It didn’t take me long to decide exactly what I wanted for my Christmas Table Decor when I was scouring Pinterest for ideas. I was totally inspired by vintage table-scapes – candelabras, traditional garland, candles galore and the whole bringing outdoors, indoors vibe with pinecones etc.

When walking round the store, I had to try my best to imagine how the items would all come together – I like to think I’m pretty good at doing that, so I’m glad to report that I didn’t have to return to the store to add to my haul. I managed to get everything in one visit and I’m chuffed to bits!

Here it is, my Dobbies Christmas Table Decor for 2018:

If you read my latest blog post, you’ll know me & Simon [my better half] are having our first Christmas Dinner together in our own house this year. We usually have it at one of our parents houses, but we’re being left to fend for ourselves this year. Christmas is a really special time of year for us, and with us having dinner here for the first time, I wanted to ensure the table-scape was magical and I think it’s just that [in my own opinion!].

How I achieved the look

I knew that I had to find a special garland to dress the table with, so I set out to find that first on my visit to the store. I picked up this gorgeous red berry traditional style garland for £29.99.

It’s such great quality and easily manoeuvrable, so you could either dress your table with it – or drape over a table, shelf or even the headboard of your bed. It comes with the red berries attached, but I added little white berries and pinecones from a scented pack of mixed outdoorsy Christmas bits to add to the garland, giving it a slightly rustic look.

I then made my way to the candle aisle, where I found pillar candles GALORE! Lots of varying sizes, perfect for adding to my table decor. I picked up a few mixed heights to add a little character to the table, and spaced them out across the table.

I wanted to add the elegant twist to the pillar candles, so picked up these gorgeous mirrored placemats with gold rim, for just £2.99 each. They act as not only a class decorative detail, but also serves as a practical solution for catching any wax from the candles!

Nearby the mirrored placemats, I found the clear, ribbed-glass tealight holders with the gold rim which matched perfectly at just £4.99 each. I picked up two, just to add something a little different to the garland decor. Great thing about the mirrored placemats and glass tealight holders is that I can use them all year room, as the gold matches in with numerous rooms in my house.

Then I spotted those beautifully traditional vintage gold-candle holders. As soon as I saw them, it reminded me of the candelabra style I fell in love with on my Pinterest searches – so I grabbed four to space across the table, in between the pillar candles and tealight holders. The candle holders were £6.99 a piece.

They had a range of charger plates in store – I decided on these flecked, gold style ones with the ribbed detail at £2.99 each [bargain!]. I topped them with plates I already have, then added the napkin and cracker details on top.

The crackers are thee cutest things I’ve ever seen – I’ve never seen such dinky little crackers, and to be fair, they are a lot more pleasing to the eye than most crackers you get! These little mini crackers were only a tenner, for a box of 8!

The crackers sit neatly between the beautiful vintage-gold napkin set I picked up for £16.99 [set of 4] then spotted these loooovely knot-style napkin rings at £9.99 [set of 4] which tie in really nicely with the rustic theme I was looking for – oh, and the napkin rings match the rope detailing on the wall clock – total coincidence that I noticed when I got home!

I got creative with the napkin rings and cut some foliage off the garland, and used some faux red berries to make the napkin rings a little more original and match the centrepiece. I got the little red berries from the £12.99 Christmas Spice Pack I picked up – which also provided the pinecones, cinnamon sticks and white berries that I’ve added to the garland [they smell gorrrgeous!].

Can’t forget the cute little gold disco-bauble-esque place holders! Sure there was 8 in the pack for £9.99. I got crafty and made my own place cards, using ripped ivory card and a gold sharpie! Think they look pretty good considering they’re hand-made, right?! #CraftyChristmas.

To finish everything off, simply light the candles and there you have it – my interpretation of traditional elegance in festive table decor form! I can’t WAIT to have Christmas dinner now!

Hope you enjoyed reading this post! Massive thank you to the amazing team at Dobbies for having me on this project, I’ve had soooo much fun!
